The third round of the East Anglia BMX 2010 Summer
Series and the first of a two way Inter Regional Challenge between
East Anglia and the South Region was held at the recently rebuilt
track of the Barking and Dagenham BMX Club last Sunday. Almost 350
riders from across both regions registered for the event and the
weather agreed with the forecast being far too hot for the riders,
officials and spectators alike.
he racing however was very competitive throughout
the day for the eighteen riders from Royston and for the second event
running had three female riders taking the part with the youngest,
Ella Tomsett, taking 1st in the Girls 7-8 class to get
the club off to a flying start and in the larger 11-12 category Faye
Godfrey took a fine 4th as did Helen Nicholl in the
Ladies Cruiser 25+ class.
The male riders also came away with good results with
Alfie Salmon taking 1st in the 8 year class B final and the 9yr
class final saw Ted Dalleywater in 4th in the main A
final and team mate Marmaduke Birt in 7th in the B final.
The 10yr male class saw two more good results for the Rockets with
Daniel Blanche finishing in 4th, having been chased all
the way by Myles Fisher who finished in 5th against some
of the top national riders. The 11 yr class saw Aaron Dalleywater
take the win ahead of Ethan Vernon in 2nd which was a
reversal of their results in the previous round as they both pull
away from the opposition in the regional rankings. In the 12 yr
class saw Matthew Harris finished in 7th in the B final
and the 15yr class saw another of Royston newer members, Jordan
Godfrey taking 7th and in the 16 year category, Andrew
