The second round of the East Anglia BMX 2010 Summer
Series was at the picturesque track of the Codham Park BMX Club last
Sunday. Almost 130 riders from across the region registered for the
event although the weather did not live up to expectations being
cold and windy which made the track seem very long but the racing
remained competitive throughout the day for the nineteen riders from
Royston.
Royston had three female riders taking the part with
the youngest, Ella Tomsett, taking 2nd in the Girls 7-8
class and in the 11-12 category Faye Godfrey also took 2nd
in her first visit to this venue and another 2nd place
went to Helen Nicholl in the Ladies Cruiser 25+ class.
The male riders also came away with good results with
Louis Foreman leading the points chase with a 5th in the
8 year class and the 9yr class final was packed with Rockets with
Ted Dalleywater in 3rd just heading home team mate James
King in 4th and Marmaduke Birt in 8th. The
10yr male class saw two more good results for the Rockets with Myles
Fisher finishing in 2nd to earn a Rider of the Day award,
having been chased all the way by Daniel Blanche who took 3rd.
The 11 yr class saw Ethan Vernon take the win ahead of Aaron
Dalleywater in 2nd whilst the 12 yr class saw Matthew
Harris in 5th The 15yr class saw another of Royston new
members, Jordan Godfrey taking 4th and in the 16 year
category, Andrew Brooker finished in 2nd whilst the 17-24
class A final saw Richard Townsend take 5th and in the
30+ “Masters” class Adam Richards took 2nd in the A
final with team mate Alex Shore-Nye taking 2nd in the B
final. Royston’s two oldest riders both won their classes with
Darren Foreman competing in the 40+ Vets class and Carl Birt in the
Cruiser 45+ category.
