Last
Sunday saw the third round of the East Anglia BMX Winter Series at
the Norwich BMX track. The cold and foggy weather Sunday made race
conditions unpleasant for the riders who ventured out in the poor
conditions with just over 60 competitors from across the region.
The Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club had 11 members competing
starting with the Formula 6 class for under 7yr olds where Alfie
Salmon took a fine win ahead of team mates Kele Newall in 4th place
and Jack Todd in 5th. In the Formula 5 class for 8-9 year old riders
Royston’s Marmaduke Birt finished in 4th and Archie York
finishing in 5th. Formula 4 saw Daniel Blanche take 4th
place overall with Bradan Blanche in 7th and Matthew
Harris in 8th whilst in Formula 3 James Handleigh led the
field all day to take the class win. Moving up to the older riders
in the largest class of the day – Formual 1 for 19 and over riders
Royston two 30+ riders made it to the finals with Carl Birt in 4th
in the B final and Danny Ancell taking the win in the C final.
The next event on the series is at Royston on January 18th
which it is hoped will fair better with the weather! The
Rockets own winter practice schedule has been published on the club
web site at
www.roystonrockets.co.uk, or ring 01763 260959 for more
