Summer Regional
Series Round 3
-
May 25th 2008
Last Sunday saw the third round of the East Anglia
BMX Summer Series and the weather returned to its worst with rain
and cold which gave poor conditions in which to race and this kept
the rider numbers well down and the spectators preferred to watch
the racing from under any cover they could find.
The Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club had 15 riders
competing with the club’s youngest members competing in the Under 6
yr class where Kelly Newall was rewarded with an excellent third
place after a meeting long battle with team member Louis Foreman who
finished in 4th. In the 7yr class Royston’s James King won the class
with Marmaduke Birt in 2nd whist Ethan Vernon took the
win in the 8yr class with Oliver Snelling coming home 2nd.
In the 9yr class Aaron Dalleywater finished in 2nd with Bradan
Blanche taking 5th and in the 10yr class Zak Foreman
finished in 4th just ahead of Matthew Harris who took
5th. In the 13 yr. class Aston Blanche was the class winner and in
the 14yr class Jamie Hutchinson finished in 3rd ahead of
team mate Ben Gutteridge in 4th. Wayne Gutteridge fought
hard in the 16yr class where he took 2nd which the same position
achieved by Darren Forman in the 30+ Masters category.
The next event on the race calendar is the
rescheduled East Anglia Spring Classic at Royston where the Rockets
will again be out in force.
The clubs own Summer Series has started with their
regular Tuesday night sessions at the clubs track in Burns Road,
Royston. Full details of forthcoming club and regional events are
published on the club web site at
www.roystonrockets.co.uk, or ring 01763 260959 for more
information on BMX racing.
