Summer National
Series Round
12- October 11/12th 2008
The twelfth and final round of the BMX Racing
National Summer Season was held last weekend at a new venue in
Preston. Practice and the first stages of the racing on Saturday
were held in overcast but warm conditions and Sundays racing was
completed in bright sunshine! The track is one of the few in the
country with a straight containing two routes and the riders could
choose which one they rode – a decision maker! As usual, it was an
action packed weekend with almost 300 riders taking part with 6 of
them from the Royston BMX Club.
The Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club younger members
in the 7 yr class were Josh Peters who took 4th in the A
final and Ted Dalleywater who also finished in 4th but
this time in the class B final. Royston’s representative in the 8 yr
class, Daniel Blanche, was in great form all day and finished with a
3rd place in the A final, whilst in the 9yr class, Aaron
Dalleywater took 4th in the A final and in the 11-12 yr. class James
Handleigh finished in 1st in the B final. The last two
riders for the Rockets also both took 4th places in their
respective A finals – Katie Roberts in the Junior Female category
and Lee Alexander in the Masters class.
The next event on the calendar is a Club Open
practice session on October 19th starting at 10-00am and
the following week sees the start of the Regional Winter Series at
Braintree on October 26th. The Rockets will be out in force for this
event with the day starting off at 10-00am with rider registration
closing at 11-00am and racing from 12-00pm until about 3-30pm.
