Autumn National
Series Round 3
The final round of the 2007 BMX Autumn National
series was held at the Peterborough BMX track in surprisingly warm
and sunny conditions last Sunday and as usual it was an action
packed day with almost 200 riders taking part including 10 from the
Royston BMX Club. The Autumn Series is a new series for 2007 and
offers riders different classes to race in from the normal summer
series and it is aimed at being a fast, non stop event with over 120
races being run between the 1-00 am start of racing and 4-00am when
the presentations were starting.
The Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club involvement
started with the youngest members, James King and Louis Foreman,
competing in the Under 6 yr class where they were rewarded with 12th
and 14th places in the largest class of the day that had no less
than 22 competitors. In the 7yr class Royston’s Daniel Blanche held
onto 3rd and in the 8yr class Bradan Blanche finished in
5th and the same position was also taken by Zak Foreman
in the 9’s. The 11yr. class saw James Handleigh finished in first in
the A final to take top spot overall in the series and in the 12
year male category Aston Blanche took a hard fought 4th.
In the 16-25 Female class, Katie Roberts came home in 2nd
overall and in the Male 37-41 year group, Darren Foreman took 12th.
With no Elite class to race in, Richard Townsend took the win in
the Male 26-32 year class to round off Royston’s collection of
trophies.
The next event on the race calendar is the first
round of the Regional Winter Series at Milton Keynes on October 28th
and the Rockets will be out in force for this event.
The Rockets own winter calendar starts on November 4th
for the Sunday morning sessions at the clubs track in Burns Road.
Full details of forthcoming club and regional events are published
on the club web site at
