National
Series Round 6 - 28th August 2005
The
Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club were competing on the south coast
track of the Bournemouth BMX Club last Sunday in the 2005 National
Series and once again the entry was high with over 370 riders taking
part, which ensured very competitive racing on the fast smooth track
which is built into a natural “bowl” providing good viewing and a
very good atmosphere. The sun was high in the sky for both Saturday
and Sunday and many went home with very red skin.
In
their second National event, Bradan Blanche in the 6 and Unders
managed to take 4th in the class B final whilst brother Aston moved
from Novice to Expert class where he went out in the qualifying rounds
of the 10 year old class. The 7 year class saw Ethan Lewis ride well
on the very fast and high obstacles of the Bournemouth track and even
after a mid race fall in his “A” final he still managed to jump
back on to grab 6th on the line. In the 9-year class Zach Stevens
finished well with a fine 2nd in the “A” final and in the male 19+
class, Ben Godfrey had a bad day after an early fall pushed him down
to the “B” final where he took 7th. Chris and Laurence
Mapp were both riding in two “money” classes with Chris taking 6th
in the Elite Class “A” final and in the 16+ Pro Am he took an
excellent 2nd in the main final whilst Laurence took 5th
in the Pro Am A Final and 4th in the Elite A Final. Royston only
Female rider was Katie Roberts who took 4th in the Female 13-15 class
to keep up her challenge for the national series title.
The
next meeting the Royston Club members will be involved in will be the
final Round of the Regional Series at Milton Keynes on September 4th
and before then they will found at the final few Rockets club
evenings, which started in mid May and are now coming to an end as the
evening light fails.
Further
details of forthcoming club and regional events are published on the
club web site at www.roystonrockets.co.uk,
