Club
Presentation Evening - December 4th 2005
The
Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club held their annual awards evening last
Sunday with members and friends competing in a Ten Pin bowling session
at the Hollywood Bowl in Stevenage followed by the clubs trophy
presentation.
The
presentation started with the Club Summer Series awards, which are
given to riders who regularly compete in the Tuesday evening races
held through the summer months. Over 35 riders took part in the series
but for the older riders it can be difficult to make a commitment to
attend enough club nights so unfortunately, this year none of the
clubs older members qualified for Summer Series trophies The trophy

James Handleigh in recognition for his number one Regional Series
Ranking as well as good results at National Level.
The
2005 Club Member Award is for the rider who you think has done the
most for the club in the last year. This year the award went to Louis
Burton for his solid rides throughout the year at Regional and
National level which generated regular points for the club in the team
elements of these events and in particular for him qualifying for the
finals in the British Championships where he finished in 6th.
The
2005 Rob Indri Memorial award is for the rider who has improved the
most in the last year. This year the award went to Anthony Taylor who
grew in confidence during the year culminating with an excellent 4th
in the East Anglian Championships and a semi final place in his first
British Championships.
The
2005 Shane Keeler Memorial Award is for the rider who has been the
most dedicated club rider in the last year without necessarily having
any great success. This year the award went to Aston Blanche who only
started racing at the beginning of the year but tried his hand at all
levels from club to National, including the British Championships.
The
club members now get back to competing in the Regional Winter Series,
the next round of which is on December 11th at Milton
Keynes and the Royston Club hope to have a full contingent of riders
making the trip up the M1. Full details of forthcoming club and
regional events are published on the club web site at www.roystonrockets.co.uk,
