SPORTS QUIZ – Royston and District Sports Council – 12th November

The time has come once again for the Mums, Dads and older riders of the Rockets to prove we know nothing about any other sport! We are looking for 6 volunteers –or 12 if we want to enter two teams to ensure one does not come last! The Quiz is on Friday 12th November at the Royston Bowling Club and starts at 1930 prompt! Drinks are cheap and the Ladies of the Bowling Club always put on a good spread of food.

If you are interested in taking part please let Phil / Maureen know ASAP – 01763 260959

 Winter Regional Series Dates

Round 2            Milton Keynes 21st November

Round 3            Braintree 16th January

Round 4            Royston 20th February

Round 5            Ipswich 20th March

There will be Formula racing at the events – Registration closes at 12 noon and racing is £5.

Royston had 9 riders at round 1 – it would be good to see the rest of our members out at Round 2. Round 1 also saw the Regional Summer Series presentation – we hope those of you who qualified for a trophy liked it and for those that did not get one – well, 2005 is just around the corner so keep practicing and make sure Mum and Dad don’t do silly things like book holidays during the race season – unless it is in Bournemouth for the National Series.

Don’t forget if you have a BMX Pit Bike (12” wheels) there is now a class to race it in!

CLUB SERIES PRESENTATION – Ten Pin Bowling – 12th December

The Club Presentation evening will be combined with a few games of Ten Pin Bowling – we have booked 4 lanes at Hollywood Bowl in Stevenage Leisure Park – Six Hills Lane next to the train station. We plan to meet at 1930 so we are ready for when the lanes are free. If you have any of the club annual trophies please make sure you bring them with you or if you can’t make the evening please get them back to Phil before the day – or at the Club practice afternoon which is also set for the 12th.

The Presentation will be held in the Bowl’s café after the bowling.

If you are coming please let Phil / Maureen know – we might have to book more lanes!

Club Web Site –      www.roystonrockets.co.uk

The club site has been out of operation for a few weeks but we hope to have it running again in a few days. If you have anything for the web site please send it direct via the “contact us” function – pictures, race reports, comments about racing – what ever you like - after all it’s your club’s site! You might also wish to have a look at the East Anglia site – www.bmxeast.com, which has links to the other clubs in our region but again this is having problems at the moment, which we hope to resolve very soon. -+
