October 2006 Newsletter

Firstly, do I keep quite and hope no one notices we have missed a few newsletters – or do I apologies for not having prepared them this year?

Since no-one has complained – at least to the committee, are we to assume that everyone gets enough information off the web site or has it been a problem – please let us know whichever way you feel – and I do apologies for not having prepared more for the Membership Secretary to send out!

The Club Presentation Afternoon – Sunday November 12th,

Enclosed with this newsletter you will find details of this year’s escapade, which will be at the Bassingbourn Ski Centre. A session on their enormous start hill is planned for those who wish to try sliding down a hill on a tea tray or a plank of wood and the club will be paying the fees for every club rider – if any Mums or Dads want to take part a small fee will be levied. The Club Summer Race Series and other annual awards presentation will take place afterwards in the Ski Clubs building. The club itself is based on Bassingbourn Army Barracks, which is an active site so access is restricted to those who have given the club the details outlined on the enclosed sheet. If you are late arriving at the main gates you might find they will not let you in!

Would last years recipients of the Rob Indri and Shane Keeler awards please ensure they are returned to the club secretary before the presentation date.

 British Cycling Membership and Licence.

A reminder once again! There are two different parts to the card you get from British Cycling. Your BC “membership”, which is on the white side of your BC card, runs for 12 months from when it was issued but your BC “Race Licence”, which is actually an internationally recognised licence, is the coloured side of the card and runs from January 1st to the end of December. So you will soon have to apply for your 2007 licence!

And Finally; Club Web Site –           www.roystonrockets.co.uk

If you have anything for the web site please send it direct via the “contact us” function – pictures, race reports, comments about racing – what ever you like - after all it’s your club’s site! You might also wish to have a look at the East Anglia site – www.bmxeast.com, which has links to the other clubs in our region.
