Club Summer Series
The
Tuesday evening sessions are going well with numbers rising and new
and a few old faces coming along to take part. Some evenings have
been disrupted whilst we sorted the new air ram gate system out but
that has now settled down in plenty of time for our Regional more
details below.
Mum, Dad -
Have you missed the free tea or coffee? Volunteers are needed to
help make the drinks, sell the food and run the races training in
most things will be given but please do not wait to be asked!
Royston Summer Regionals
The
Rockets have two rounds of the Regional Series this year July 4th
and August 15th and we will need help from every club member and
their families on both days plus the Saturday afternoons before
that to clean the track up. Track preparation will start at 2.00pm
and if you can come bring along a spade, wheelbarrow or bucket to
cut the grass back along the track edges. We will also need some
quick drying white or yellow paint for the finish line and white
emulsion or similar to repaint the numbers on the start hill the
lines are OK. If any one can bring a raffle prize that would be much
appreciated. We also need a volunteer to purchase food for the event
we usually go to Walter Clark in Baldock plus a few bits from
the local supermarket.
On the race day we will need all hands on deck from 9.30am fencing
to be put up, gate to be assembled, track to be checked over and a
final brush. We will need volunteers for;
Car Park / Raffle take the money at the gate, sell the raffle
tickets and organize the raffle.
-
Track Marshall / track maintenance 2-3 just to man two positions
on the track and ensure it is kept free of stones and dust. Also
need to keep an eye on the fuel levels in the generators.
-
Food preparation / selling 3-4 to man the caravan in shifts.
Finish line - 2-3 to write the riders numbers as they cross the
line plus 2-3 from other clubs.
NOTE
Maureen will not be at the July event and Phil will not be around in
August so please do not assume someone else will sort it out
its time for everyone to get involved!.
PLEASE SEE PHIL AND PUT YOUR NAME DOWN.

The
Rockets got off to a flying start and were laying in second place
after two rounds but have slipped to third after round 4 and are
only a few points ahead of the next two clubs! We need everyone from
Novice to Elite to compete at as many regional races as possible to
keep us up the top of the pile its much nicer than being down the
bottom!. Novice Riders do not need a race licence registration
closes at 1100am.
National Race Series
The third
round at Peterborough at the end of May again had over 330 riders
registered and the club put on a show with BBC local radio doing
interviews from the track on Saturday balloon release etc. for the
opening ceremony and the weather was good all weekend which really
capped a great event. The next National race is at Coppull on 27th
June then at Chesterfield on 8th August Registration and practice
for all classes is on Saturday afternoon with racing on Sunday
(Practice from 0830!), camping available. Again, if you do not feel
you are at National level yet, there are Novice classes for up to
13s over 14 year old novices race with the experts.
